Black Bear Diner, the Redding-based restaurant chain specializing in traditional comfort food and sizable portions, said it will open two eateries next year in the Sacramento area.
The company said it will open a site at 1540 E. Main St. in Woodland in March and another at 8531 Bond Road, just east of Highway 99, in Elk Grove in July. Both will be franchise operations.
On Sept. 30, Black Bear announced it had signed a franchise agreement with Concord-based Norcal Cajun Foods II Inc. for the development of five restaurants to be built in Northern California by 2017. The upcoming restaurants are part of that deal.
Black Bear operates more than 60 restaurants in eight western states, including those in Natomas, Auburn, Roseville and Davis. Its goal is to have 100 restaurants by 2018. The chain started with a single restaurant in Mount Shasta in 1995.
