California’s used vehicle sales market saw about a 2.5 percent year-over-year gain through the first nine months of this year, according to the Sacramento-based California New Car Dealers Association.
CNCDA said used car registrations statewide totaled more than 2.62 million from January through September, compared with about 2.56 million in the first nine months of 2013.
The association said private party sales accounted for 60 percent of used vehicle transactions through nine months. Franchised new car dealers and independent dealers accounted for about 20 percent each.
Through three quarters this year, the Honda Civic passenger car was the best-selling model in the state for used vehicles 6 years old or younger, followed by the Toyota Camry, Toyota Corolla, Honda Accord and Nissan Altima, respectively.
