PowerSchool Group LLC, a Rancho Cordova software company, said Tuesday it plans to add 200 or more jobs over the next two years and relocate its headquarters to Folsom.
The company said the hiring will bring total employment to around 700, including 600 at its new Folsom location.
PowerSchool makes information-systems software that helps schools manage enrollment, registration and other functions.
The company said it decided to “renew its commitment” to the Sacramento area because of the talent pool at area universities. “It was a natural decision to expand our footprint in the greater Sacramento area,” said Chief Executive Hardeep Gulati in a prepared statement.

Joe Trotter, a spokesman for PowerSchool, said most of the new jobs will be in entry-level sales positions.
“Remaining in California will provide the company a huge cost savings,” said Barry Broome, president of the Greater Sacramento Area Economic Council.
The company is moving to a site on Parkshore Drive in Folsom.
