Container Store to open Sacramento location in January

The Container Store, a Texas-based retail chain featuring storage and organization products, said Wednesday that it will open its first Northern California outlet in Sacramento next month.

Grand-opening festivities are set for Jan. 30 in the Howe ’Bout Arden shopping complex, which is undergoing redevelopment at Arden Way and Howe Avenue.

The 23,000-square-foot store will employ 50 people and stock more than 10,000 products. Merchandise is geared to both home and office storage.

The local store will be the 78th in the national chain, which was started in 1978 in Dallas.

As part of opening festivities, the Sacramento Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals will receive 10 percent of sales proceeds from the grand-opening weekend.
