Santa Rosa-based REACH Air Medical Services said its new base at Mather Airport recently launched its first flight and is now operating on a 24/7 basis.
REACH also operates emergency-medical air bases at Sacramento Executive Airport and at sites in Marysville and Stockton. REACH announced last July that it planned to expand its Northern California operations.
The new base at 10425 Norden Ave., just south of Highway 50, features an EC135 helicopter, capable of air speeds of 150 mph, that can serve hospitals throughout the Sacramento area. Its on-board medical crew includes certified flight nurses and paramedics.
REACH has a fleet of 18 medically equipped helicopters, eight airplanes and nine ground ambulances that serve communities in California, Oregon and Texas.
