Hermocillo elected Valley Vision board chair; Sacramento nonprofit charts new course
Jose Hermocillo, managing director of communications/business strategy firm APCO Worldwide in Sacramento, has been elected 2015-16 board chairman of Valley Vision, the nonprofit focused on the Sacramento region’s economic and social initiatives.
The Valley Vision board also elected Keri Thomas, regional director of community and government relations for Sacramento-based Sutter Health, to serve as board vice chair.
In a media release, Valley Vision said Hermocillo and Thomas are “part of a new executive committee that will guide the implementation of the organization’s new vision and strategic action plan.”
Valley Vision said an executive committee has spent six months outlining organizational changes to take effect this year. In the past, Valley Vision has supported various initiatives created by others. Now, the nonprofit’s 27-member board wants to introduce its own projects designed to benefit the region.
“There is no other organization poised to bring together cross-sector leadership and manage the large-scale coordination required to achieve real change for the region,” Hermocillo said in a statement announcing his new board position.
