Sacramento-area gas prices fall to lowest level since late 2008
Sacramento-area gasoline prices fell another 3 cents over the past week to an average $2.08 a gallon, the lowest level since the recessionary period of late 2008.
On Monday, national fuel price tracker GasBuddy.com said the average retail price of gas in the area was nearly 36 cents lower than a month ago and 68 cents below the year-ago average.
GasBuddy said California refineries switching to production of pricier spring- and summer-blend gasoline will put pressure on Golden State prices to rise, but that could be somewhat offset by a recent plunge in wholesale fuel prices in Southern California.
