Sacramento-area gas prices rise another 14 cents in a week
The average retail price of gas in the Sacramento area rose about 14 cents over the past week to $2.40 a gallon, according to Monday’s report by national gas price tracker GasBuddy.com.
Over the past three weeks, the average at-the-pump cost in the area has spiked 32 cents, although the current average is 85.7 cents below the year-ago level.
Nationally, GasBuddy said the average price of gas rose about 12 cents over the past week to $1.93 a gallon, up about 24 cents from last month but 50 cents lower than the year-ago average.
Analyst Patrick DeHaan said the recent rally in crude oil markets has helped push gas prices higher, and the upcoming conversion to pricier spring/summer gas blends will put more upward pressure on fuel costs.
