Panattoni Development Co. is in escrow on an undeveloped 14.8-acre site in Davis, envisioned as a Class A office, lab and technology space, according to an announcement Thursday by commercial real estate service firm DTZ.
The site, at 3501 Chiles Road, is envisioned as a “state-of-the-art campus design (that) will focus on sustainability, technological enhancements and a strong sense of place both indoors and outdoors,” according to DTZ.
DTZ said the property is zoned for a business park and commercial use.
Davis, long known for its determination to enforce slow, controlled growth, continues to emerge as a city of interest for the development of technology, research and innovation centers, with proponents touting the talent pool available from faculty and students at the University of California, Davis.

DTZ said San Francisco-based Vitae Architecture will design the 150,000 to 225,000-square-foot campus, and Cunningham Engineering, which has offices in Davis and Sacramento, will provide engineering services.
Panattoni has selected DTZ’s Jim Gray and Nahz Anvary as brokers for the project leasing. Both are based in the firm’s Sacramento office and also represent the existing land ownership in the sale to Panattoni.
In a statement, Gray said, “We are actively targeting tenants and users for the proposed buildings.”
Tim Schaedler, the Panattoni partner leading the development plan, said in a statement: “There is a real shortage today of space for midsize and large companies in Davis. We are pleasantly surprised by the interest, enthusiasm and energy focused on our project. We believe we can deliver high-quality and competitively priced workplaces that will be a valuable addition to the Davis community.”
