The Kitchen Restaurant in Sacramento has again been awarded AAA’s Five Diamond Award for excellence.
The restaurant, founded by chef and restaurateur Randall Selland, was among seven Northern California restaurants and three regional hotels making the prestigious 2015 Five Star list released Friday by AAA Northern California.
The annual ratings are based on unannounced inspections of more than 58,000 AAA-rated hotels and restaurants in the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. The new list includes 121 hotels and 63 restaurants that earned the highest five-diamond status, representing just 0.3 percent of those surveyed.
The Kitchen, at 2225 Hurley Way, was first awarded AAA’s Five Diamond status in 2011.

The other Northern California restaurants receiving AAA’s top-rated recognition are: The Restaurant at Meadowood in St. Helena; Ema’s Elderberry House in Oakhurst; Benu, Gary Danko and Saison restaurants in San Francisco; and The French Laundry in Yountville. Saison is the only first-time California restaurant on AAA’s list.
Among the 18 California hotels earning the five-diamond rating are: Ritz-Carlton hotels in San Francisco and Lake Tahoe and the Château Du Sureau in Oakhurst.
