Maita to build new Subaru store along Auburn Boulevard

The Sacramento-based Maita Automotive Group plans to build a new, 40,000-square-foot Subaru dealership along Auburn Boulevard in Sacramento.

Maita operates a string of dealerships along Auburn Boulevard, which is visible to traffic traveling east and west on the Capital City Freeway.

Maita Subaru opened at 2400 Auburn Blvd. in Sacramento in mid-2012, but Maita wants to build the new $5 million-plus store at nearby 2912 Auburn Blvd.

“The Subaru product is really going gangbusters, and we need more space not only for sales but for service bays,” said Doug Marjama, spokesman for the locally based automotive group.

The new Maita Subaru store is expected to open by the end of this year.

Maita has seen a growth spurt in the post-recessionary period. In November 2011, Maita opened a 90,000-square-foot Toyota/Scion dealership at 2500 Auburn Blvd.

Maita Mazda operates at 2410 Auburn Blvd., but Mazda operations will move to the Subaru site at 2400 Auburn Blvd. once the new Subaru store is completed. The Mazda store at 2410 Auburn Blvd., will then undergo renovations.

The long-term future of the site at 2400 Auburn Blvd. will be determined later, Marjama said.

Maita also oversees a Chevrolet dealership in the Elk Grove Auto Mall and a Honda store in Citrus Heights.
