Report: Sacramento’s luxury home sales up in 2014

The highest-end homes in Sacramento generally sell for $1.5 million and above, drawing a rare and particular clientele. A few luxury listings reach even higher, like this Sierra Oaks home listed at $6.5 million. Lyon Real Estate says the region’s 365 closed sales of more than $900,000 last year represented more than a 90 percent increase over sales posted in 2012.

Luxury home sales in the greater Sacramento region increased 11 percent in 2014 compared with the previous year, according to a survey released by Lyon Real Estate. The survey, compiled by real estate tracking firm Trendgraphix, covered individual home sales of more than $900,000.

Lyon said the region’s 365 closed sales of more than $900,000 last year represented more than a 90 percent increase over sales posted in 2012.

“Luxury homes in our region are available at an extraordinary value compared to those found in comparable communities across the entire state,” said Lyon Real Estate President Pat Shea in a statement. Shea said the median price of a San Francisco home topped $1 million last summer and the “average median from San Francisco to San Jose is near double that of Sacramento.”

Lyon said it closed 7,553 transactions worth $2.61 billion in sales volume in 2014.
