Volkswagen Group of America on Tuesday will formally open its Pacific Northwest Parts Distribution Center in Rocklin.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony, involving various VW officials, is set for 10 a.m. at 1100 Tinker Road.

Last year, VW announced plans to lease about 70 percent of a 200,000-square-foot Class A industrial building at the site from San Diego-based Westcore Properties. The building was constructed in 1998.

The local parts distribution facility is Volkswagen’s seventh in the North American market. Officials said the Rocklin site will support nearly 100 Volkswagen and Audi dealers in California and five other states.
