Placer County homeowners had the highest average property tax bill in 2013, and Sacramento County residents had the cheapest in the four-county region, according to a new study by Zillow.
The Seattle-based real estate data tracker analyzed 2013 figures, finding the average property tax bill in Placer County was $3,593. Sacramento County homeowners paid an average of $2,258.
Zillow said the average in Yolo County was $2,660; homeowners in El Dorado County paid an average of $2,646.
In all four counties, the average tax bill represented about 1 percent of the average single-family home value.

From 2012 to 2013, Zillow said the average annual increase in Sacramento County home values was 25.1 percent, well ahead of year-over-year increases of about 18 percent in Placer, El Dorado and Yolo counties.
Nationally, Zillow said the median property tax bill in 2013 was $2,132. The highest bills were in Westchester County, N.Y., where residents paid a median of $13,842. In Tunica County, Miss., the median was $216, lowest in the nation.
