Pair of multimillion-dollar Sacramento County equestrian facilities up for sale
Two world-class equestrian event centers in Sacramento County are awaiting buyers.
One of the facilities sits on 20 acres near Rancho Murieta. Silver Spur Ranch at 7525 Dillard Road in Sloughhouse is a recent listing by Ed Perry of California Outdoor Properties. It’s sale price is $4.5 million.
Whether the new owner operates Silver Spur Ranch as an event center, training facility or boarding stable, it’s ready to go with 72 stalls with feed storage, automatic water and a clean design. There are 68 tack-and-feed lockers, an indoor arena, several lighted outdoor arenas with a judging and spectator areas, six horse wash racks, two trim stations and two round pens.
There’s a caretaker’s home on the property, and a home site overlooking one of the ponds is ready for development.
The other prominent equestrian property for sale is in Elk Grove. Former MLB all-star Greg Vaughn, a Sacramento native who graduated from Kennedy High School, is selling it for $8.4 million.
Starr Vaughn Equestrian is a 72-acre property located at 7541 Sloughhouse Road featuring a 3,000-square-foot house, built in 2004, with four bedrooms and three bathrooms.
There are also guest quarters attached, according to the listing.
The facility includes a covered arena with seating for 500 spectators, 80 stalls, a commercial kitchen, six outdoor arenas, barns, fenced paddocks and offices.
“(The property) can also accommodate the needs of a private or public zoo,” according to the listing on realtor.com.
“It can be repurposed,” listing agent George Popescu with Town & Country R.E. Brokers told Realtor.com in a January 9 article. “But if horses are your mode of choice, the property has everything to offer.”
The listing promotes Starr Vaughn Equestrian as “the best professionally set-up equestrian property on the market.”
Popescu declined to be interviewed by The Bee about the property, and Vaughn declined to comment through Popescu.
The price has been reduced since first hitting the market in 2015 for $12 million.
According to the Starr Vaughn Equestrian website, the facility operates events year-round. Greg Vaughn’s wife, Michele, and daughter, Genay, specialize in horse training, boarding, horse retirement and rehabilitation at the business.
The Vaughns purchased the land in 1998 for $400,000, according to county records.
