Hidden Japanese garden in middle of San Francisco? Home is yours for $4.3 million
A four-level, terraced Japanese-inspired garden offers a peaceful oasis in the middle of bustling San Francisco as part of a home selling for $4.3 million.
The top terraces of the garden offer wide panoramic views of the entire city skyline, Noe Valley, Bernal Hill, both spans of Bay Bridge and Mount Diablo.
The four-story, five-bedroom home at 90 Laidley sits on a 171-foot lot in front of the garden designed by Michael Meitu in partnership with Outerlands Design and Build. Plants were brought in by crane to populate the multi-layered garden, which produces fresh thyme, oregano, rosemary, mint, lemons, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and more, according to a representative for Compass listing agents Alexander Fromm Lurie and Baxter Smith.
The house remodel was finished in 2016 and meticulously curated with designer light fixtures and hardwood walnut accents. The home features smart home technologies, recessed lighting, hidden flat-screen and built-in Polk Audio Systems.
“Every corner is impeccably finished with uncompromising attention to detail,” according to the listing.
Accented by the garden, a chef’s kitchen features stainless appliances, custom cabinetry, Carrera marble countertops and large waterfall island.
“A lot of homes these days are flips,” Lurie told SFGate in an article about the home. “This is a home that was renovated by the buyer for themselves and because of that there has been extra attention to detail throughout.”
Not an insigificant feature for San Francisco, a two-car garage is part of the deal.
