Glass ‘waterfall.’ New neighborhood name. See San Francisco’s latest apartment tower.
A new apartment building in San Francisco rises 400 feet above the ground with a facade that gives the illusion of a glass waterfall. Developers are calling it an “instant landmark” and are branding the new neighborhood where it lies as “Van Mission.”
“Fifteen Fifty is the focal point of Van Mission, a dynamic new destination,” according to a news release from Related California real estate firm.
Managers of Fifteen Fifty launched leasing last week and announced rental prices starting at $3,500 per month for studios, $4,550 for one-bedrooms, $6,400 for two-bedrooms, $9,900 for three-bedrooms.
Fifteen Fifty is the tallest structure in the new Van Mission neighborhood, according to the team behind the project. The tower features cascading setbacks that create the illusion of a shiny 40-story glass waterfall.
“Designed to be statements in the sky, the residences incorporate materials and finishes that are both modern and timeless, with handcrafted hardware, fumed-oak flooring, precision millwork, and steel-framed windows, all accentuated by breathtaking panoramic views,” the news release said.
The apartment building occupies the corner of South Van Ness and Mission Street.
“The name Van Mission works for us,” Fifteen Fifty project manager Joe Walsh told The San Francisco Chronicle. “We will be the first to fly the flag there.”
The 550 modern residences come with six-inch wide-plank oak flooring, open kitchens with custom grey-oak cabinetry, white Caesarstone counters and Calacatta Caldia marble slab backsplashes, Bosch gas cooktop and stainless steel appliances. Luxury bathrooms have glass-enclosed showers and marble tubs.
Fifteen Fifty features iconic architecture by SOM, design by Marmol Radziner, art by Jessica Silverman Gallery, a private entrance to the 32,000-square-foot Equinox Van Mission fitness club and Bar Agricole, a James Beard award-winning restaurant.
Tennants have access to a 24/7 concierge.
“The development of Fifteen Fifty has been a collaborative effort amongst some of the best designers, architects and builders in the world, and we believe we have created a new benchmark for residential living in San Francisco that will serve as a gateway to the Van Mission neighborhood,” said Matthew Witte, principal of Related California.
The tower comes with a separate 460,000-square-foot office building that will be the new home of the San Francisco Planning and Public Works departments, according to SFCurbed.
“There has been a focus on quality, thoughtfully designed spaces and a special attention to detail across the project,” Walsh, vice president of Related California, said in a news release. “Fifteen Fifty delivers a unique combination of a central location, expansive indoor and outdoor amenities, a new Equinox and a great new restaurant in Bar Agricole, all living under one roof.”
