Here’s a castle in Oregon worthy of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, listed at $3.9 million

A medieval-type French-chateau castle that an Oregon couple took seven years to build is on the market for a princely sum of $3.9 million.

The owners of the over-the-top Portland property called Blackberry Castle first put the estate on the market for $7.175 million in 2015, according to oregonlive.com. It relisted at the beginning of 2020 at $4 million, according to realtor.com, before dropping to its current price tag on February 26, 2020.

The castle’s architecture is elaborate and unique.

“In addition to the castle’s exterior with its copper-turret roofs spectacular enough to be a landmark for commercial pilots, the visual impact of the interior is unique for its architectural-designed details and clever use of space,” according to TopTenRealEstateDeals.com, which first wrote about the property at its current listing.

One of the turrets has been turned into a multi-story library with a massive-working clock on the ceiling. The gym, which has a climbing wall, looks like a whimsical dungeon.

Blackberry Castle, built in 2008, sits on six acres at 14125 NW Germantown Road, Portland, and comes with a 700-plant vineyard producing pinot noir and chardonnay and 400-bottle underground wine cellar. Inside, there are five bedrooms within 13,000 square feet of living space, a European village-style atrium bar and entertainment space and a home theater.

A chef’s kitchen comes with a $50,000 custom range from Italy, and there are four fireplaces in the residence.

“It’s not about the rooms it has, but more about how they are presented,” writes TopTenRealEstateDeals. “Like stepping into a Grimm’s fairytale, one expects Rapunzel to release her golden locks from the top of a turret at any moment.”

The castle uses brick, imported wood, stone and fixtures in creative fashion, such as the barrel roofs, heavy castle-like doors. huge slices of tree trunks on the atrium floor and a circular stairway with a Michaelangelo-style painting on the ceiling.

The grounds feature tree-topped valley views, a tennis court with lighting and an in-ground trampoline. A 1,900-square-foot detached home is also provided.

If the royals, who give up their traditional royal life March 31, ever decide to make the United States their home, Blackberry Castle might be a perfect fit for them. For now, however, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, and their son, are living on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada in a $14 million, 10,000-square-foot mansion, according to Pure Wow.

TopTenRealEstateDeals said the Oregon couple who owns Blackberry Castle “ended up going their separate ways” and put the property on Airbnb at $2,000 a night.

The listing agent is Daniel Lowe of Luxe Christie’s International Real Estate, Lake Oswego, Oregon.
