This is the first Northstar project in a decade. Homes will be ready by next ski season

Homes have begun selling in the first new project in more than a decade at the Village at Northstar in Lake Tahoe.

The first residents in the new phase of homes at Village Walk Skyline are expected to move into the condominiums in time for the 2020 ski season, said Jeff Brown, owner and manager of Tahoe Mountain Realty. Factory construction of the units is expected to begin in the next 30 days, and site work will start once the snow melts, he added.

Priced between $1.75 million and $1.95 million, the luxury homes at the base of Northstar ski resort offer two stories and 2,840 square feet of living space. The residences have four bedrooms, three-and-a-half baths and come with two-car garages with enough space for every seasons’ toys and gear.

Village Walk Skyline will offer a total of 34 units. Twelve units were built in 2007. The new design will include 22 residences. Eight of them went up for sale in December.

“We felt keeping the pricing under $2 million for a new, contemporary, four-bedroom residence would make for a very popular product,” Brown said.

The “mountain-modern” luxury condominiums feature vaulted ceilings, open floor plans, large, energy-efficient windows, oak cabinetry, designer appliances and LED lighting.

Brown said he’s already procured deposits on several of the units.

“The response to this project has been overwhelming,” he said.

Brown expects families to use the residences as second homes.

“The modern architecture and thoughtful floor plan were designed with a new generation of consumer in mind,” Brown said. “We’ve seen an influx of families seeking ever greater time in the mountains as an antidote to busy, over-programmed lives. Technology is giving these families the opportunity to transcend the typical weekend commute patterns and utilize this as a second home rather than a vacation property.”

Brown said the “proprietary,” off-site construction model offers greater efficiency and quality control, as well minimizing construction time, than projects built on-site.

San Francisco-based Sagemodern and Truckee-based Paradigm8 designed and built Village Walk Skyline.

The new homes at Northstar include amenities such as:

Tahoe Mountain Club membership, which includes private ski valet, on-mountain dining opportunities and equipment storage.

On-site parking.

Access to the Village Swim and Fitness Center, including a pool, spa and state-of-the-art workout equipment.
