See it: ‘Iconic’ estate on San Francisco Bay hill listed for first time at $30 million
A landmark Mediterranean-style estate at the southernmost tip of Corinthian Island with breathtaking views of the San Francisco city skyline and Angel Island recently hit the market for nearly $30 million.
“This is the most recognizable and iconic home on exclusive Corinthian Island,” said listing agent Bill Smith of Compass. “Reminiscent of the luxurious homes spread across European waterfronts, this custom-built beauty features massive views, imported luxury finishes, and the indoor/outdoor lifestyle that Belvedere is renowned for.”
The estate, listed for $29.9 million, for the first time ever, is perched on about a quarter-acre parcel on a private, unique promontory. The 6,340 square foot home, built in 2002, became “an instant icon within a neighborhood known for its historical and remarkable architecture,” according to a property fact sheet from Compass.
The estate at 74 Bellevue Avenue, Belvedere CA, features four bedrooms, four and half baths, a large great room with a gourmet kitchen, a luxurious master suite with two executive offices and expansive views, three additional bedrooms, a large family/entertainment room, two wine cellars, three-car garage, outdoor kitchen, multiple balconies, dramatic lawn area, putting green and sun-filled gardens.
The interior features dark wood trim with coffered ceilings studded with ornate chandeliers and modern light fixtures that contrasts the pale Venetian plaster walls and blonde hardwood floors, according to the listing.
“An important feature of the design of 74 Bellevue is its ability to graciously accommodate large numbers of guests for social and philanthropic gatherings,” according to Compass.
Corinthian Island is not an actual island, but a piece of land jutting into the San Francisco Bay near Angel Island, on the Marin County side of the Golden Gate bridge between Belvedere and Tiburon. It’s home to the second oldest yacht club in the United States, according to Marin Magazine.
The estate hit the market at the beginning of this month, realtor.com reported.
