For first time ever, check out inside of ‘Golden Girls’ TV home. It’s for sale for $2.9 million
For the first time in 65 years, the television home of “The Golden Girls” is for sale, priced at $2.9 million.
The mid-century home, with its lush subtropical landscaping, was set in Miami, Florida for the iconic TV show., but the house itself is located in Los Angeles, at 245 N. Saltair Avenue in the Brentwood neighborhood.
The charming, 2,901 square-foot, four-bedroom home of Blanche, Dorothy, Rose and Sophia was used for exterior shots. For the first time, fans of “The Golden Girls” have an opportunity to see the actual house with its modern, Japanese and Hawaiian architecture.
The comedy ran from 1985 to 1992, and the home was shown in the first season only. After that, a replica of the house was built, according to The Daily Mail.
With a completely different interior than seen on the set, the Brentwood home has huge open rooms and tall vaulted ceilings, “unlike the small-cozy rooms we came to know through the sitcom,” writes TopTenRealEstateDeals.com.
Built in 1955 and created by the Hawaiian architectural firm of Johnson and Perkins, the original design features include floor-to-ceiling glass, oak floors, sliding Japanese shoji screens in place of drapes, four bathrooms and a 1970s-like avocado green-and-turquoise kitchen.
“The Hawaiian element brings the outdoors in with vanishing threshold and large covered patio with skylights to protect from the occasional raindrop,” TopTenRealEstateDeals wrote.
The listing agent is Rachelle Rosten of Douglas Elliman, Beverly Hills.
