Cozy compound of Corbin Bernsen with Hollywood history hits market for $2 million. See it
A cozy home owned and completely revamped by actor Corbin Bernsen recently hit the market for $1.995 million — and it comes with a rich history.
The four-bedroom, four-bath property in Hollywood Hills at 2114 Kew Drive, Los Angeles is for sale for the first time in 50 years. It was owned by Beach Dickerson, an indie actor and producer who turned to real estate investing. Using GI Bills after World War II, Dickerson over the years amassed as many as 18 homes around Laurel Canyon.
“He was the poor man’s Bob Hope who realized early on that real estate is where it’s at and was a sure fire way to protect yourself from the unreliable and often flimsy world of filmmaking,” according to a representative of The Agency real estate firm.
Nicknamed The Crown Jewel, the home has hosted a collection of Hollywood writers, novelists, dancers, directors and actors, including Bernsen, according to the official listing.
Built atop a hill in Laurel Canyon in 1936, the four-structure compound has commanding views from the Hollywood sign to the Pacific Ocean. There’s a two-bedroom main house and pool house set around a brick-rimmed pool, spa and decking. The rustic A-frame guesthouse in the back corner comes with a lofted bedroom and kitchenette and features a vintage fireplace. There also is a bungalow on the lower property named “El Nido de Nestor” after its long-time resident Nestor Almendros, an Academy Award-winning cinematographer.
Daniel Stevenson of The Agency and Max Nelson of Compass hold the listing.
Bernsen, 66, first gained fame as the character divorce attorney Arnold Becker on the 1986-94 series “L.A. Law.” He starred in the movie “Major League” and in the television series “Psych” during its 2006-14 run.
