This rare Sea Cliff home with $25 million view of the Golden Gate Bridge is for sale

A magnificent San Francisco home perched atop the city’s exclusive Sea Cliff bluff with an expansive, straight-on view of the Golden Gate Bridge and the Pacific Ocean has hit the market at $25 million.

The estate at 190 Sea Cliff Avenue in San Francisco is believed to be the most expensive listing ever in that neighborhood. One look at its features explains why. The four-bedroom, six-and-a-half bath home comes with a roof deck, movie theater and indoor basketball court with a 40-foot glass wall—engineered in Italy—overlooking an infinity pool cut into the Sea Cliff hillside. Private access steps lead from the pool down to a secluded beach.

The mansion spans 10,725 square feet over five levels. It opens to an elegant mahogany and oak foyer and an imperial curving sky-lit staircase, a blend of formal and contemporary living space.

“One of just a handful of homes directly on the bluff,” according to the listing, Multiple Listing Service records show the next-most expensive home sold for $18 million in July 2019. The neighborhood has a turnover rate that is likely the lowest in the city, according to a market analyst with Compass real estate firm.

Neal Ward of Compass holds the listing.

“Rarely does a home of this impressive stature, scale and setting, with its abundance of lifestyle amenities appear on the open market,” according to the property website.

A stately dining room and adjacent study peer over the mature garden. There’s a gourmet kitchen with breakfast area and terrace. Upstairs, the large primary suite unfolds over the entire northern face of the home, and features dual baths and closets, a sauna, spacious exercise room and Golden Gate views. The floor plan is flexible, with two children’s bedrooms flanking a Jack-and-Jill bathroom in addition to a playroom and a guest suite. An airy, bright office—windows on all sides—affords sweeping vistas. The large roof deck takes in the ocean air and 360-degree views.

Additional amenities include game and media rooms, a wine cellar and garage access.
