Joey Bosa of L.A. Chargers buys $5.85M waterfront home where he grew up. Take a look

Los Angeles Chargers defensive lineman and NFL Pro Bowler Joey Bosa purchased a sleek residence on Sunset Lake in his hometown of Fort Lauderdale, Florida — featuring broad water views and easy ocean access — for $5.85 million.

Bosa, whose brother Nick plays the same position for the San Francisco 49ers, signed a five-year, $135 million contract extension with the Chargers in 2020.

The 5,409-square-foot lakefront home sits at 2401 Solar Plaza Drive along a lagoon in Riviera Isles that leads to the Intracoastal Waterway.

The residence, featuring an open floor plan, has five bedrooms and six bathrooms. It’s loaded with amenities that include a wet bar and wine cellar, dock, pool, home theater room, an elevator and a floating glass staircase with “European oak steps that lead up to the en-suite guest rooms and large master suite with a private balcony,” according to the listing.

“The view for the price is second to none, along with the location,” listing agent Tim Elmes of Compass said in an email to McClatchy Newspapers. “The features are stunning and energy efficient. The semi-gated neighborhood provides the rare ability to walk or bike for miles along the Intracoastal. Sitting only a few minutes from the beach, the owner will have access to the best that Fort Lauderdale has to offer.”

Joey Bosa was represented by his mother Cheryl Bosa of Engel & Völkers. Elmes represented the seller, an LLC managed by Harvin H. Weiner.

The home last traded $5.5 million in February 2020, according to South Florida Business Journal. It was originally listed for $6.995 million.

Joey Bosa starred as a football player at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale. He played for Ohio State University before being drafted third overall by the Chargers in 2016. He’s made the Pro Bowl lineup for the past three seasons.
