Step into Sacramento’s highest priced condo. The Sawyer penthouse is listed at $4.38M

UPDATE: An offer on the penthouse is pending (May 5, 2022.)

The highest-priced condominium in Sacramento — a luxury penthouse atop the Kimpton Sawyer hotel in downtown that features spectacular views of the city skyline and river sunsets — just hit the market with an asking price of $4.385 million.

The Sawyer apartment — 500 J Street #1851 — is the most expensive condominium ever listed in Sacramento, according to Coldwell Banker Realty.

Kimpton residents have access to Golden 1 Center, home of the Sacramento Kings basketball team, via a private tunnel. The dramatic penthouse has an open-concept layout that spans nearly 3,000 square feet with expansive floor-to-ceiling, wraparound windows that allow natural light to flood into the space. There is white-oak, wide plank floors and wool carpeting. It also has a kitchen with quartz countertops.

Residents at The Sawyer enjoy valet parking, 24-hour room service, a separate owner’s entrance, a concierge, doorman and access to the private lounge, hotel pool and fitness studio.

The property previously sold for $3.75 million in 2018. The highest sale ever at the Kimpton Sawyer was a $4.1 million deal four years ago, according to Sacramento appraiser and housing market analyst Ryan Lundquist.

“Now we are beginning to see some of these units hit the market after their initial purchase, so it will be interesting to see where the market bites,” he told The Bee via email.

The owner of the property, which hit the market Tuesday, is listed as Sweetwater Trust, according to the Sacramento County Assessor’s Office records. Coldwell Banker declined to provide any information regarding the seller.

Michael Onstead and Clara Tucker of Coldwell Banker Realty are the listing agents.
