Legacy Santa Cruz home built near boardwalk in 1898 for sale for $7.9M. Check it out
A historic California compound built in 1898 near the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk has hit the market for $7.895 million.
The home, owned for generations by the Rittenhouse family, is on the market for the first time more than a century, according to Compass real estate firm. The estate was “reimagined” in 1935, according to Compass.
“The era’s original charm has been meticulously preserved while updated with modern-day conveniences,” a representative told The Bee.
Set on 1.34 acres at 113 Ocean View Avenue, the heritage property lies in Santa Cruz’s “sunbelt” between The Santa Cruz Harbor and the boardwalk, according to Compass.
The iconic estate is a sprawling four-bedroom, four-bathroom home with panoramic views of The Beach Boardwalk and the Pacific Ocean. Privately tucked behind gates and encircled with English garden-style landscaping, the home holds an English cottage quality. The façade is charming and built with old-style materials: stone siding, quaint dormers and a slate tile roof.
Inside, there are two fireplaces, hardwood finishes and period details.
Outdoors, there’s a large pool, deck and gazebo.
The home sits next to a quarter-acre lot with an art studio and two storage sheds. It’s within walking distance to the beach.
