See writer’s Carmel home listed at $8M, with private beach access, 50-foot waterfall

A California Craftsman-style residence with a 50-foot natural waterfall and private access to Wildcat Beach in Carmel is for sale for nearly $8 million, according to The Agency real estate firm.

The light and bright five-bedroom, five bathroom home in the wealthy Carmel Highlands neighborhood spans 4,000 square feet with an open floor plan bringing together a great room, dining room and kitchen. A massive stone fireplace anchors the gathering space. There are floor-to-ceiling windows and a guest suite on the main level under vaulted ceilings.

The sellers are parting with two contiguous parcels of land, nearly three acres in all. There’s a waterfall and frontage along Wildcat Creek that leads down to the secluded beach.

Writer and environmentalist Michael Wisner and his wife Helen, a software company executive, purchased the home in 2006, according to The Agency. The couple have renovated entire property, which was built in 1996.

The home has a wraparound patio and ample outdoor areas for sitting or entertaining with ocean views. Multiple balconies look out onto the forest and canyon. Several hiking trails branch out from the property.

Mauricio Umansky and Cicily Sterling of The Agency are the listing agents.

Carmel Highlands is located in a fairly rugged area with an artsy vibe. Great for whale watching, the area has been home to singer John Denver and photgraphers Ansel Adams and Edward Weston.
