Take peek at luxury living at sea: Homes on new superyacht now selling for up to $70M
The first 10 exclusive luxury residences aboard the private superyacht Njord have hit the market, according to The Agency, which has been tapped to handle marketing and sales.
Shipbuilder Meyer Werft and Ocean Residences Development unveiled the lavish homes-at-sea last year. Njord has 117 private residences ranging from 1,500 to 9,000 square feet and two to six bedrooms. They came to market last week with a price tag between $8.5 million and $70 million — and a mind-boggling array of amenities.
There are 15 custom-designed floor plans that include floor-to-ceiling windows and private balconies with unobstructed ocean views. Each exclusive unit has a gourmet kitchen with custom cabinetry and high-end Gaggenau Hausgeräte appliances. The homes include integrated smart-home technology, walk-in closets and ensuite bathrooms and personalized housekeeping, laundry service, florist and tailoring services available.
“Erected to circumnavigate the globe, from the Arctic to Alaska, from Siberia to Japan or New Guinea, Njord will go to the most magical and natural places,” wrote Forbes.
Think of Njord as an extravagant high-rise building cruising around the globe on clean ocean adventures.
“Njord is a magnificent opportunity for buyers with the desire to be citizens of the world aboard one of the most amenity-rich superyachts available today,” said Santiago Arana, principal of The Agency real estate firm, in a statement.
Named after the Norse god of the sea, Njord’s amenities include a travel and excursion concierge, a Eurocopter 160 with onboard hangar, four superyacht limo tenders, two dive and fishing boats, a yacht and sail club, a dive center and excursion lounge, according to The Agency.
Aboard are six world-class restaurants and bars, a spa-and-wellness center, gym, a concierge hospital, a telescope space observatory, a golf simulator and pro shop, a kids club, a gourmet market and shops, multiple outdoor terraces, a main pool and sun deck, two outdoor pools, a night club and jazz lounge and a 10,000 bottle wine cellar.
The superyacht is powered by carbon-neutral fuel and considered the most advanced “green ship” built, according to Forbes.
The vessel utilizes state-of-the-art dual-fuel engines, batteries for hybrid operation and heat recovery systems, according to Robb’s Report.
Private amenities aside, the yacht is built to carry out oceanographic studies and global marine research wherever it travels. Its on-board scientific laboratory can help explore important issues, such as climate change.
Even the residents aboard are required to commit to the yacht’s underlying philanthropic mission, according to The Agency.
“All on board are united in supporting charities, missions and pressing causes,” according to the superyacht’s website.
The target delivery date for the residences is 2026, according to The Agency. Some superyacht concepts never make it to the open seas, but the shipyard that is building Njord has a long track record.
“We are fortunate to have the opportunity to partner with Meyer Werft, a company that has kept its shipbuilding on course for 226 years—that’s seven generations—and which is the world leader in building innovative and complex passenger vessels with a stellar reputation for exceptional quality, precision and on-time deliveries,” Kristian Stensby, Ocean Residences Development CEO, said in a statement.
