Rents are going up again in many American cities. How Sacramento is stacking up
Sacramento’s rental market is starting 2023 where it left off in 2022.
The region’s typical rent is down 2% over the past 12 months, according to new data analyzed by online rental firm Apartment List. That decline was the third-highest in the nation, trailing only Las Vegas and Phoenix.
Nationwide, the typical rent crept up slightly in February over the previous month, the first increase after five straight months of drops, according to Apartment List data. Significant price increases are being seen in Oklahoma City, Fresno and Chicago.
Rocklin has seen a substantial drop of nearly 5% in the average rent over the past 12 months, according to Apartment List. Rents in Roseville, Citrus Heights and Sacramento have also declined since last year, while the typical rent in Folsom is up slightly since 12 months ago.
The new interactive map below shows the change in the average rent for many ZIP codes in the Sacramento region, including neighborhoods of Elk Grove, Yuba City, the south Placer County suburbs and Folsom.
