112-acre Northern California polo club, horse facility, Airbnb, hits market for $5.95M
A polo club, Airbnb-VRBO home and horse-boarding facility on 112 acres in the picturesque hills of Petaluma, California, is for sale for $5.95 million.
Wil Harris, the longtime owner of Cerro Pampa Polo Club, told the Sacramento Bee he decided to sell the ranch because he and his partner have stopped playing polo and are pursuing other interests. Also, his children are going off to college so they won’t use the amenities as much, he added.
“My favorite features (of the property) are cooking dinner on the terrace at the hacienda overlooking the polo field and hiking up to the magical clearing at the top of the hill,” Harris said in an email.
The ranch is 10 minutes from downtown Petaluma and 37 miles from San Francisco.
The land used to be used as a dairy farm. Now, another transition may be coming with a new buyer.
“There is great potential for a vineyard, olive orchard, family compound, or development,” the listing states. “The existing polo club not only brings revenue for the club itself, but also produces additional revenue for horse boarding. If polo is not an interest, the fields can be converted into vineyards, orchards, or other uses.”
The polo club is on a year-to-year lease, according to California Outdoor Properties, which holds the listing.
The Sonoma County compound at 1295 San Antonio Road includes five homes — a hacienda, farm house, dairy house, bunk house and saddle house — along with two polo fields, three ponds, two wells and a caretaker in place.
“We just felt that it was the right time to pass it on to someone who’s got a love of polo in front of them,” Harris told the Press Democrat. “We’d certainly be delighted if another polo player wanted to buy it, but there’s no guarantee.”
Airbnb lists three adjoining buildings — a hacienda, hillside unit and casita — for rent as one house that sleeps 16 people in eight total rooms. There is also a private pool and valley and mountain views.
“The property offers an excellent opportunity for the continuation of any of the income-generating businesses or the pursuit of expanding into new ventures,” according to California Outdoor Properties.
Todd Renfrew of California Outdoor Properties is the listing agent.
