Tech recruiter’s 50-acre California coastal home makes for cool getaway at $11M. See it
If you’re trying to beat the Sacramento heat and have $11 million for a summer estate, a nearly 50-acre coastal California getaway at the base of the Santa Cruz Mountains is on the market with Pacific Ocean views and a lot more.
Mel Connet, an executive search leader for tech companies, has put his four-level home, at 2088 Green Oaks Way, near the quiet town of Pescadero, up for sale for $10.95 million, according to Compass real estate firm.
Connet told The San Francisco Standard he’s leaving the secluded retreat to be closer to family in the Central Valley.
“We’re really happy with it,” Connet said. “We’re gonna be really sorry to lose it.”
Somebody will be glad to step into the 12,560-square-foot home off Highway 1, between Half Moon Bay and Santa Cruz, according to listing agent Erika Demme of Compass.
“There seems to be a re-emergence of the desire for weekend/summer estates — especially those who primarily reside in San Francisco,” said listing agent . “Ocean views are always desirable and Green Oaks provides exceptional flexibility — highlighted as a luxury family home, second home, family compound, or corporate retreat.”
The main house, inspired by Lake Tahoe stone-and-timber mountain architecture, comes with seven large bedrooms, each with en-suite bathroom, and many with adjoining sitting rooms. An unfinished apartment spans 1,080 square feet. The elevator services all levels.
Construction of the home was completed in 2016.
There’s a fitness center with steam and sauna, game rooms and a wine cellar. The huge, flat lot (47.73 acres) encourages outdoor living with a covered porch, sizeable sports court, grassy areas and splendid barn. Nearly every room in the house opens either onto a deck or straight to the grounds. There’s a spot for a pool and a four-car detached garage.
“This area enjoys a microclimate that is generally fog-free ... with mild temperatures and plentiful sunshine,” a brochure on the property says.
