One of finest homes on shores of Lake Tahoe finds new owners. How much did they pay?
An amazing gated estate on a 1-acre lot at the end of a quiet residential road on the shores of Lake Tahoe has sold for $33.5 million.
The 9,800-square-foot residence in Incline Village, Nevada, includes an “expansive soft sand beach, steel pier with (jet-ski) lifts, multiple buoys and the elusive beach-side cabana,” according to the property listing.
The eight-bedroom, nine-bathroom home was constructed in 1997 with “dense mountain logs (that) accent the hand-picked locally mined stone,” the property description adds. The property includes an indoor swimming pool overlooking the lake.
Interior features include beamed and vaulted ceilings, a wet bar, wine cellar, mudroom and a workshop, as well as a chef’s kitchen and breakfast area. The outside area has a deck, barbecue space and landscaping in addition to the lifts and buoys.
Listing agent Christine Perry of Christie’s International Real Estate Sereno declined to comment on the property or the buyers whom she represented, other than to say in a text message: “It was a seamless escrow (and) the buyers loved every detail the sellers did with the house.”
The sellers were Dennis Hart, founder of First California Mortgage, and his wife Katherine Hart, according to public property records, which lists the new owners as Green Hat 6 LLC.
The Harts bought the property in 1994 for $2.85 million, according to public records. They demolished a 1940s-era home and constructed the new mansion, as well as restored the boat house, according to the Wall Street Journal, which first reported the sale.
The buyers are from the San Francisco Bay Area, the newspaper said.
Listing agent Jean Merkelbach of Engel & Völkers represented the sellers.
The house was listed for $44 million in August, according to realtor.com, but sold for nearly 24%less in a deal that closed Dec. 11.
The property is one of the most expensive residential sales on Lake Tahoe in 2024. Perry sold another lakeside Incline Village estate, Old Forge, originally built by casino mogul Steve Wynn, in October for the record price of $62 million, The Sacramento Bee previously reported.
