Sacramento-area home hits market for $1.3M. It features striking views of Folsom Lake

An El Dorado Hills home that nearly set a residential sales record at $7 million is no longer on the market, but a new opportunity awaits just two miles away with an even more breathtaking view of Folsom Lake — at a fraction of the price.

The dazzling hilltop estate at 1921 Vista Mar Drive is for sale for $1.325 million. The sellers are the original owners of the property.

The moment the front door swings open, a panoramic view of the lake unfurls and saturates the senses.

“They built the home essentially to take advantage of all of these incredible views,” listing agent Andrea Duane of AD & Co. real estate group said. “It literally just sweeps across the lake all the way down to downtown.”

The view faces west, and every room in the house except the bathrooms and laundry room offer sweeping, unobstructed vistas from a vantage point above Brown’s Ravine and the marina. The home looks straight out over the lake to the dam. The clear sightline includes views of downtown Sacramento in the distance.

“The sunsets (are) really pretty spectacular,” Duane said. “It really feels like an escape from your life. So whatever problems you had during the day at work, once you come here, you completely forget all about it.”

The 3,225-square-foot house, built in 1986, sits on 1.3 acres with four bedrooms and three bathrooms. The property is move-in ready although there are a few areas where a new buyer might choose to modernize.

The house spotlights soaring ceilings with wood plank beams, modern lighting, an expansive balcony and chef’s kitchen. A beautiful glass and wood-paneled sun room off the living room provides a warm, quiet sanctuary for enjoying a book, coffee or tea. The primary suite sits upstairs as a separate, private retreat, highlighted by its own balcony, spacious en suite bath with a soaking tub, dual sinks, glass-enclosed shower and large walk-in closet.

Just a short drive down the road lies the 10,000-square-foot mansion, 100 Rock Lane, that recently sold for $7 million, the second highest sale ever in El Dorado Hills, a community 30 miles east of Sacramento. That estate covers 10 acres with a jaw-dropping infinity pool overlooking Folsom Lake, scraped white oak wood floors, an open gourmet kitchen with a back kitchen for food prep, floor-to-ceiling stone fireplaces, huge disappearing walls of glass, 24-foot ceilings, a Dolby-sound home theater with a bar, a sizable indoor gym, a large game room and a private spa area with an oversized sauna, steam shower and massage table.

The grounds comprise meticulously landscaped lawns and gardens, tennis and pickleball court, a fire pit and outdoor fireplace, solar field, gas station, walking trails, a barn and chicken coop, a vineyard and a luxury guest house.

But for nearly $6 million less, the property Duane has listed won’t disappoint if a home buyer is looking for lakeside living at its finest in Sacramento. The residence comes with equally stunning views of Folsom Lake, a seamless connection from indoors out to nature, breathtaking sunsets over the water, a desirable location in Marina Village and no HOA, just like 100 Rock Lane.

“This home offers an unparalleled blend of lifestyle flexibility and a seamless connection to nature, perfectly capturing California’s relaxed elegance,” the official property listing states.

The sellers, who raised a family in the house, acquired the property nearly 40 years ago in an auction, which is how land in the area was being divvied up back then.

“Their name was drawn, and they were able to pick the lot of their choice,” Duane said. “That is how they did it back then, so that is how they ended up with this particular lot. And then they built this home.”
