See modern, chic Sacramento home where former Kings player Harrison Barnes raised family

When former Sacramento Kings forward Harrison Barnes paid $2.63 million for a newly built home in Arden Arcade in 2019, one major selling point stood out: privacy.

The two-story house lies hidden from the street on a one-acre flag lot. Behind a gate, a tree-lined driveway leads up to the resplendent, 6,600-square-foot residence.

“It’s very serene, very private, very chic — it’s a beautiful property,” listing agent Matthew Hindy of Nick Sadek Sotheby’s International Realty said. “It’s one of the nicest homes I’ve ever sold.”

Hindy, who has represented many Sacramento Kings players, staff and coaches, helped Barnes purchase the home five years ago. He recently facilitated the sale for his client.

Last summer, the Kings traded Barnes to the San Antonio Spurs. In October, he put the home, where he and his wife had started raising a new family, on the market for $4.5 million. The six-bedroom, eight-bathroom house at 1811 Ladino Road in the Arden Oaks neighborhood sold a short time later, in December, for near the asking price.

Sacramento lobbyist Scott Wetch and his wife Janelle Wetch bought the property for $4.3 million, according to public property records.

There’s a serene vibe running through the home. Beyond the open grand entry, a gourmet kitchen is at the heart of the interior entertainment spaces. The primary suite amounts to a luxurious retreat, featuring built-in blackout curtains, a spa-inspired bath, oversized walk-in shower and dual walk-in closets.

During his ownership, Barnes made improvements to the property, including adding solar panels, installing a backup generator and renovating the pool.

“This estate combines beauty with functionality,” the property listing stated.

Expansive living areas flow easily from one interior space to the next — and then out to the dreamy backyard. The grounds are meticulously landscaped and ready for hosting gatherings or just relaxing by the pool, spa, next to the fireplace and in the outdoor kitchen.

Other features of the house include ready plans for an ADU and three balconies for watching sunrises and sunsets.

Barnes played small forward and power forward for the Kings from 2019 to 2024.
