Rare Lake Tahoe compound where singer Babyface lived, recorded for sale. See it

A pair of adjacent homes with panoramic views of Lake Tahoe — one of them formerly owned by 13-time Grammy winner and R&B musician Kenneth B. Edmonds, known as Babyface — have hit the market in Incline Village, Nev.

The homes can be purchased separately or together, which makes it a rare offering, according to a representative of the Compass real estate firm.

Babyface bought the 7,344-square-foot estate at 708 Champagne Road in 1996 and recorded songs there. The sellers purchased the residence from the singer, songwriter and record producer for $2.8 million in 2013, according to public property records.. The 1-acre property is listed for $13.89 million.

The other home at 714 Champagne Road, which spans 6,923 square feet and sits on an acre, is priced at $7.9 million. It was last sold in 2020 for $2.8 million, according to public records.

The extraordinary estate at 708 Champagne Road is a “fusion of European sophistication and alpine serenity,” according to the official property listing.

“The first time I walked into 708 Champagne, it felt like a dream — a private European estate hidden in the trees,” listing agent Mary Kleingartner of Compass said in an email. “The craftsmanship is truly exceptional, with details you just don’t see anymore. There’s a heart-shaped rose garden, a water feature that greets you at the entrance, and spaces that are elegant without ever feeling cold. It’s a grand home that still manages to feel deeply personal.”

The extraordinary, five-bedroom, seven-bathroom estate is a “fusion of European sophistication and alpine serenity,” according to the official property listing.

The storybook setting evokes the charm of a French countryside manor. A driveway of cobblestone from Italy winds through lush gardens, fruit trees and glowing gas lanterns, according to Compass.

A stream with waterfalls runs through the property.

“708 has this incredible presence — stonework, scale and setting that immediately tells you you’re somewhere special,” co-listing agent Ryan Mitchell of Compass said. “It’s a rare combination of architectural beauty and functional design. Everything is purposeful, from the oversized rooms to the natural flow between indoor and outdoor living. It’s built for both memorable events and quiet mornings.”

A chef’s kitchen is the centerpiece of the elegant home, which is further highlighted by vaulted ceilings, exposed beams and expansive windows that offer sweeping lake and mountain views.

“We left the chaos of San Francisco behind to raise our four children in the beauty of Incline Village, Lake Tahoe,” the seller said in a statement emailed to The Sacramento Bee. “We found the perfect family home with two wings — one for the kids, one for us — on a gated estate that provided us privacy, security, and peace of mind.”

Compass did not disclose the name of the seller. The home at 708 Champagne Road is under the ownership of Chapter Six LLC, according to public records. The other property’s ownership is listed as Duck House LLC.

With their children grown up, the owners are moving on to the next chapter in life.

“We will miss sentimental walks around the property admiring the rose garden and fairytale landscaping, unwinding in our spa in the master bedroom, and going to sleep listening to the stream outside,” the owner said.
