It looks like California’s gas tax 2017 increase is here to stay. With that in mind, those looking for the cheapest possible gas should probably head to the Central Valley.
California Proposition 6, which would have repealed a 12-cent-per-gallon gas tax increase aimed at funding road maintenance and other infrastructure projects, has been defeated, 55 percent to 45 percent.
So if you’re looking for cheap gas, Lemoore, Bakersfield, Oroville and Hanford are offering the cheapest in the state, according to the website GasBuddy.com.
GasBuddy provides user-generated real-time gas price information for more than 150,000 gas stations across the country.
Four gas stations in Lemoore have the state’s cheapest gas, according to the website, with $2.83, $2.85, $2.89 and $2.93 a gallon, respectively.
Elsewhere in the state, the GasBuddy finds that the cheapest gas in the Los Angeles area is $3.39 a gallon; in San Francisco it’s $3.65; in Sacramento, $3.15; it’s $3.33 in San Diego; and $3.23 in Fresno and Modesto.
