Intruder ‘picked the wrong house’ as kickboxer defends his sister, California cops say
A Southern California woman woke up early Tuesday to find a strange man touching her in her bed, KTLA reported.
The woman shouted for help, alerting a family member in another room as the intruder ran away, Santa Ana police said in a press release.
“Her brother wakes up, sees the guy running out and the chase is on,” said police Corporal Anthony Bertagna, The Orange County Register reported.
The brother caught up to David Ceja, 38, of Santa Ana and held him down until police arrived, KABC reported.
Ceja, who had just been released from jail Saturday in an unrelated case, now faces charges including burglary and sexual assault charges, according to the station.
He suffered a broken arm in the scuffle with the woman’s brother, KTLA reported.
“My understanding is, the family is all involved in MMA and kickboxing and so, this individual picked the wrong house to attack one of the family members,” Bertagna said, according to the station.
Ceja was treated for his injuries at a nearby hospital before being jailed, The Orange County Register reported.
Santa Ana is the county seat of Orange County in the Los Angeles metropolitan area.
