Curious bear hops on California man’s car and has showdown with his dog, video shows

It was a trip this California man and his dog would likely never forget.

Karo Orudzhyan and his three-year-old husky named Ice were on an excursion at Sequoia National Park on Thursday when a wild bear approached their car, according to CBS San Francisco.

“That’s my first time, seeing a bear actually, so I was really excited to see it, I was just trying to get a good video, like close-up and it just started approaching the car and climbed up,” Orudzhyan said to CNN. “I wasn’t really scared to be honest.”

Orudzhyan started recording as the bear climbed onto the hood of his car and pressed his paws against the windshield, according to CNN.

The bear and Ice stared each other down, which lasted less than two minutes, through the sheet of glass, according to ABC7/KACB.

“The bear, I think he wanted the dog,” Orudzhyan said to CBS San Francisco. “I had some In-N-Out in the car, too. That might have been it, but yeah, it was sniffing the dog.”

The bear hopped down and walked towards the back of the car as Orudzhyan continued filming.

Orudzhyan said that the damage to the car was minimal and only sustained a few scratches, according to ABC7.
