‘I love you too much, my son.’ California teen was shot to death days before Christmas
Instead of celebrating the holidays this year, this California mom will be mourning her son who was shot and killed just a few days before Christmas.
Stockton police say that Edward “Eddie” Rosas was shot on Dec. 20 near the New Day Community Church, according to Fox40. The 17-year-old later died from his injuries.
“He asked to be able to volunteer here in front of our church for the Christmas light display so he helped build this area here where people can come and take photos,” Bill Yates, pastor of New Day, told Fox40.
Rosas’ mother, Maria Avina, prayed over a candle memorial for her son on Monday, ABC10 reported. She’s also asking that the person who killed her son turn themselves in.
“I love you too much, my son,” she said.
The Stockton Police Department told CBS Sacramento that the investigation is ongoing and that no one has been arrested. There also has been no lead on the motive.
“I’m so mad. I’m so angry that this cannot be the time their lives of joy and peace and love,” Yates said about Rosas’ family to CBS Sacramento.
The church is also raising donations by selling hot chocolate and cookies for a memorial.
