Green Day covers damages from mosh pit at California Denny’s after teen gets the bill
Green Day hopes they had the time of their lives.
The American punk band has covered the entire bill after a California Denny’s erupted in a mosh pit during a concert earlier this month. The teen who booked the restaurant for the show started a GoFundMe to pay the $1,800 in damages he was stuck with paying.
Bryson Del Valle, a 17-year-old from Costa Mesa, booked the eatery for a concert earlier this month. During a performance by the band Wacko, the audience began moshing. They were then asked to leave and Del Valle was made responsible for paying for the damages, which totaled $1,800, Billboard reported.
“There was damage done to one of the Denny’s tables,” police spokesman Lt. Anthony Bertagna told McClatchy News.
Del Valle told Billboard that the Denny’s manager “was super nice the whole time,” but asked for $1,800 “through cashiers check or money order.” The teen then created his own GoFundMe page to help cover the costs.
Green Day donated $2,000 for the cause, SFGate reported.
“Hey Bryson call us! We wanna play the Bastards Club. Love, Green Day,” the band wrote on the GoFundMe page.
The band then posted a receipt of the payment on Instagram and wrote, “the kids are alright,” NME reported.
