Porch pirates with more than 100 pieces of loot flip car in police chase, CA cops say
Two California porch pirates were arrested for mail theft after their car crashed as they fled from police, according to the Butte County Sheriff’s Office.
On Dec. 23, the Butte County Sheriff’s Office got a report that a man was stealing mail in Durham, according to a police release. Sgt. Brian Evans says that he saw Jeremy Blumlein, 41, of Chico, CA speed away in his car, which matched the description of the suspect’s car. Evans tried to catch him, but Blumlein lost control of the car and it flipped.
Neither the passenger, Breanna Maier, 26, nor Blumlein was injured in the crash. Police found “108 packages and envelopes addressed to approximately 56 people and 37 different addresses,” according to the release. They also found meth, a wallet with pre-paid gift cards, and cash.
Blumlein was arrested for “felony reckless evading, identity theft, mail theft, violation of probation, and possession of a controlled substance.” Maier was arrested for “identity theft, mail theft, and violation of probation.”
