Ever wanted to be a princess or superhero? How about a car?
Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California, has scheduled a series of auditions in January for costumed characters of various kinds at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure.
Performers play characters from Disney films and other productions at the theme parks, posing with fans, interacting with guests and even signing autographs.
A casting call for headshot photos to play princesses Ariel, Belle, Moana, Rapunzel, Tiana and Jasmine, along with Aladdin, Peter Pan, Prince Charming and Captain America, took place Friday, The Los Angeles Daily News reported.
The casting call noted that performers interested in playing Dora Milaje, a Wakandan bodyguard from “Black Panther,” must be willing to shave their head, according to the publication.
On Jan. 18, Disney will hold an open call for people to play “Cars” characters, such as Lightning McQueen or Mater, for parades in Cars Land at Disney California Adventure.
Applicants must be from 5’2” to 5’8” in height and comfortable in confined spaces, with a clean driving record, the audition notes say.
Disneyland also lists two casting calls for “sculpted,” or full-costume characters, such as Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck. These are based on height, since performers must fit into existing costumes.
On Jan. 31, performers between 4’7 ½” and 5’3” can audition at 10 a.m and 2:30 p.m. Performers between 6’ and 6’4” also can audition at 2:30 p.m., the audition notes say.
Performers must be able to stand for long periods of time and wear heavy full-body costumes, the casting call says. And they must “demonstrate ability to perform in casted role during the audition process.”
While the auditions for costumed performers don’t list specific characters, the shorter listing covers such characters as Minnie Mouse and Daisy Duck. The taller costumes could include Goofy, Chewbacca or Groot, The Los Angeles Daily News reported.
