Pantsless prowler tries to crawl through home’s doggy door, California couple says

When a stranger hopped a fence into her backyard, a Northern California woman dialed 911, Fairfield police say. Then things got weird.

“He dropped his drawers and mooned her and was trying to get her outside,” said husband Fred Farrell, 83, KTXL reported. When that didn’t work, the intruder tried to enter the home through a doggy door.

Police arrived in less than two minutes, but the pantsless prowler tried to escape by jumping fences into other backyards, KOVR reported.

Officers caught up to the man a few houses away and arrested him. The incident took place at 6 p.m. on Jan. 8, The Daily Republic reported.

Leroy Vance, 48, of Fairfield faces charges including violating parole, possession of methamphetamine, criminal trespass and resisting arrest, police reported.

Vance, a registered sex offender on parole from a drug sales conviction, had cut off his court-ordered ankle monitor, police say.

“I thank the big guy that there were no kids around,” Farrell said, KTXL reported. He said his wife was “very shaken up” over the incident.

Police warned residents to pay attention to their surroundings, and praised the woman for promptly calling 911 and providing detailed information for an immediate police response.

“Officers obviously cannot be everywhere all the time, but while working together we were able to resolve the incident and arrest the offender quickly,” police said.
