Teens break in and throw party, trashing home being rebuilt from fire, CA cops say

After a California woman spent years having her home rebuilt when it was destroyed by the 2017 Tubbs fire, teens broke in and trashed the place, costing her thousands of dollars in damages.

Santa Rosa police said that teens broke into Rosemary Yates’ home on Jan. 24 through an unlocked window and threw a party with about 40 friends for hours, The Press Democrat reported.

The party was recorded on Snapchat and home surveillance footage, according to KRON 4.

The video shows teens going in and out of the house, where Yates has lived for more than 20 years, KRON 4 reported.

“It just went nuts,” Yates told KRON 4. “They threw chairs, destroyed walls, floors, there’s holes in walls and then just the massive human biology. The vomit, the pee, the alcohol, the pot, all of that stuff was just sprayed all over.”

Yates told The Press Democrat that the party left thousands of dollars in damage, including walls with holes in them, damaged hardwood floors, and a broken armchair that was thrown down the stairs.

Yates wrote in another post that after the teens partied for five hours, it took more than eight hours to clean up the mess they left behind.

“I spent more than $2.5 million building this house for more than two years, and this happens,” she said according to the newspaper. “It’s awful.”
