Five things to know about Kobe and Gianna Bryant memorial at the Staples Center
Kobe Bryant fans can pay tribute to the late NBA star at “Celebration of Life for Kobe & Gianna Bryant,” which will be held Feb. 24 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Bryant, his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, and seven others died in a helicopter crash last month in Calabasas, Calif. The memorial is expected to honor all of the victims killed in the crash.
Here are five things you need to know about the memorial.
You can register now to purchase tickets
Fans can register to purchase tickets at Ticketmaster until 10 p.m. Monday.
Tickets come at different price levels: $224 each, two for $224, and $24.02 each, KTLA reported.
Tickets are limited and if there’s more demand than the inventory allows, fans who have already been verified will be randomly selected to buy tickets, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Registered fans will be told when tickets are available
Those who register will get an email on Feb. 18 to buy the tickets. They’ll also be sent a text with an access code, according to Fox Los Angeles.
The tickets are non-transferable and people can buy a maximum of two, the outlet reported.
The prices and date pay tribute to Bryant and Gianna
The ticket prices and the date of the event — $224 and Feb. — pay tribute to the jersey numbers worn by Bryant and Gianna, according to KHOU.
All of the proceeds from the memorial will be donated to the Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation.
It won’t be shown outside the Staples Center
The memorial won’t be projected on the TV screens outside the Staples Center, according to the Los Angeles Times. People who didn’t get tickets are encouraged to avoid the downtown area and instead watch the event on TV.
There will be performers and speakers
But they haven’t been announced yet, according to the Los Angeles Times.
