SUV flies off 6-story parking garage, lands on McDonald’s across street, CA cops say
An SUV landed on a McDonald’s restaurant early Sunday in Santa Monica, California, after flying across the street from the top of a six-story parking garage, KCAL reports.
The Jeep broke through a barrier on the roof of the garage at Second Street and Colorado Avenue near the Santa Monica Pier before crashing onto the restaurant, KABC reported.
Two people bailed out of the Jeep before it went off the parking garage roof, KTLA reported. The driver survived the fall inside the SUV.
The 20-year-old Twentynine Palms, California, man was “conscious, suffering minor injuries, and speaking with officers,” but was later hospitalized in critical condition, according to the station.
Streets in the area were closed following the 12:30 a.m. plunge, The Santa Monica Daily Press reported. They reopened about 3:30 a.m.
Nobody on the ground was hurt, KNBC reported.
