Video shows leaping mountain lion clear backyard fence with ease in California

A mountain lion spotted early Monday in San Bruno, California, shows up on a security video easily leaping over a wooden backyard fence, according to police.

“Mountain lions are a natural part of our environment,” police wrote on Facebook. “Please be aware this could be your backyard!”

Police said they received a report of a mountain lion at Sneath Lane and Rollingwood Drive in San Bruno, which is south of San Francisco. The video was shot on Rollingwood Drive shortly after midnight Monday.

Anyone spotting a mountain lion should notify police so the information can be forwarded to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, the Facebook post advises.

Police suggest that anyone who encounters a mountain lion “face the animal, make noise and try to look bigger by waving your arms.” They also suggest throwing rocks and picking up small children.
