Here’s where Vegas odds put the Democratic candidates ahead of the California primary
The clear favorite to win the California Democratic primary is Sen. Bernie Sanders, at least according to bookies setting odds on the election.
Polls put the Vermont senator as the front-runner with about 34 percent of the vote as of Monday, according to poll tracking site FiveThirtyEight.
Former Vice President Biden trails in the polls with 18.6 percen and Sen. Elizabeth Warren has 15.5 percent in California the day before Super Tuesday, FiveThirtyEight reports.
A third of all delegated in the Democratic primary will be handed out after the results are tallied from the primaries in California and 13 other states. California has the biggest share and will dole out 415 delegates.
Bookies setting betting lines on who will win California agree that Sanders is the big favorite.
The site Bookies.com, sharing Super Tuesday betting lines from British gambling site 888sports, said, “For an East Coast guy, Sanders sure has his supporters out West. Hillary Clinton beat Sanders by a significant margin in the 2016 California primary, but oddsmakers have Sanders taking it this time in a landslide.”
888sports puts Sanders ahead with -3,335 odds, which means a person would need to wager $3,335 to win $100 (plus the amount bet.) The odds put Biden and former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg at +1,000, and Warren at +2,000. That means a $100 bet on Biden or Bloomberg would pay $1,000 if he win or the same bet on Warren would pay out $2,000 (depending on who wins, of course.)
Popular gambling site Bovada also puts Sanders as the clear front-runner for the California primary at -4,000. The odds for Biden are set at +1,000 and at +10,000 for Bloomberg, Warren and Sen. Amy Klobuchar.
Site BetOnline put Sanders -5,000 and didn’t even make betting lines for the other candidates, instead giving odds of +1,400 for any other candidate.
