Field of Light at Sensorio in Paso Robles set to reopen after coronavirus closure
The Field of Light at Sensorio is reopening June 12 after a three-month closure due to COVID-19.
The art installation, which is made up of 58,000 fiber optic lights covering a field of rolling hills off Highway 46 East, opened in May 2019. Since then, it has attracted more than 145,000 visitors from 41 different countries, according to a news release.
Sensorio closed in March to comply with social distancing regulations. It originally planned to reopen in mid-April but has remained closed as the coronavirus pandemic continued.
The outdoor light field was given permission to reopen by the San Luis Obispo County Public Health Department following guidelines from the state, Sensorio executive director Tracy Strann said in a news release.
However, Sensorio will operate a little differently moving forward.
“We are implementing every safety precaution in order to offer a safe environment for our visitors,” Strann said in the release. “During these deeply unsettling times, we know there are many looking forward to visiting this tranquil outdoor exhibition to experience Bruce Munro’s extraordinary vision.”
