A salad from Trader Joe’s might have plastic in it, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said.

The department’s Food Safety and Inspection Service issued a public health alert Thursday, March 10, to recall a salad from Trader Joe’s in several states.

The store’s “Crunchy Slaw with Chicken, Crispy Noodles and Peanut Dressing” comes in plastic tray packages. The producer recalled the salad after concerns that the salad dressing could have hard plastic in it, officials said.

Salads that have a use-by date of March 9 through March 12 have been recalled. The salads were shipped to Trader Joe’s locations in Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah.

“The problem was discovered when an FSIS inspected establishment received notification from their salad dressing supplier that the salad dressing, which is regulated by FDA, may contain hard plastic,” officials said in a public health alert. “The establishment then notified FSIS of the issue.”

No one who bought the salad has reported having an adverse reaction after eating it.

“Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them,” officials said. “These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.”
